Classes in the Midlands Region:
At the moment we are aware of only two classes running in the Midlands Region. These are:
The Leicester Bookbinding Group
Quorn Bookbinding Class
Both of these are co-operative groups independent of the Society of Bookbinders and the Midlands Region. However, a number of our members attend one or other of the groups. For more information on these groups visit their websites:
Basic Case Bindings.
This is a set of class notes made by Nick Wells and used by both the Leicester Bookbinding Group and Quorn Bookibindign Class. They give the basic information on how to do a simple case binding including how to work out the measurements involved.
Edge Gilding and Edge Decoration
Peter Geraty runs the Praxis Bindary and is a director of the Integrated Studies Programme at the American Acadamy of Bookbinding. His notes on Edge Gilding and Edge Decoration are some of the best available. You can find them, along with other useful information on his website.
Rodney Fry Notes
Rodney gave a talk to the Midlands Region on the subject of Book Conservation and Rebinding. He has made the extensive notes that go with this talk available to the region. They are available to view and download here:
